Frequently asked questions
Can I upload a specification I have not filed yet?
Yes. An uploaded specification is kept in private storage, opens only from your own account, and the specification and its analysis are used for your own report and nothing else. While a report is being produced, a copy of the specification exists on the analysis server; that copy is deleted once the report is finished. The uploaded file itself is destroyed when you delete your account. Where claim text goes for the analysis is set out on the security page and in the privacy policy.
How does a report on an unfiled specification differ from one on a registered patent?
The analysis and the price are the same. What differs is how the result reads — for a continuation or divisional the priority date is preserved, so matching the latest wording is the point; for a new filing an already-published standard is prior art, so the same result reads the opposite way. That is why the upload asks for the priority date, and why each clause shows the release it entered the standard in.
Do you predict what will become part of a future standard?
No. SEPPi works from published specifications only — contributions not yet reflected in a published specification are out of scope. What it does show is which specification and clause family a claim sits in, whether that clause is one still being revised, and which limitations have no counterpart at all.
What if a patent has several claims?
A report covers one independent claim. For further independent claims of the same patent, the first is at the report price and each additional one at the additional-claim price. Another independent claim of a patent you already have a report for is also an additional claim. Check several independent claims on the patent page to order them together.
Can I order reports for several patents at once?
Yes. Use the + button next to the search box to add up to 20 patents, check the candidate specs for each, and pay once for the ones you pick.
What if a report can't be generated?
You are not charged for it. The failed report's amount is cancelled on your card, or refunded to your PayPal account, automatically; when several reports were paid for together, only that report's share is.
Can I stop a report while it is being generated?
Yes, with the Stop generating button on the report page. Stopped before the claim is compared against specification clauses (usually 2 to 4 minutes in), it is not charged, and a free report comes back. Stopped after the comparison has begun, it is not refunded. The page tells you which applies before you confirm.
Can I get a tax invoice or receipt?
Yes, tax invoices and receipts are available on request — contact us after your purchase.
What if I need more than 20 reports or enterprise pricing?
For bulk analysis or enterprise pricing, contact us and we'll work out a plan that fits your volume.
What happens if my payment fails?
You won't be charged and no report generation starts. You can simply try the payment again.
