Pre-grant patent

A specification with no patent number yet can be analysed too. Upload the file and it runs the same sequence as a registered patent. Here's how it works.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload the specification

Upload one docx or txt file, up to 20MB. A .hwp or a PDF cannot be uploaded, so paste the claims and the description in instead.

  2. 2

Check the claims and enter the priority date

The claims are extracted automatically. Fix anything wrong and confirm: what you confirm is what gets compared. This is also where you say whether it is a continuation or divisional or a new filing, and enter the priority date.

  3. 3

    See candidate clauses free

Pick the independent claim to analyse and the candidate clauses are shown before you pay.

  4. 4

    The report

The report is produced the same way as for a registered patent, at the same price. Each clause is shown alongside the release it entered the standard in.

The result reads differently depending on the priority date

For a continuation or divisional the priority date is preserved, so matching the latest specification wording is the point. For a new filing an already-published standard is prior art, so the same result reads the opposite way. That is why the upload asks for the priority date, and why each clause shows when it entered the standard.

How are uploaded files handled?

An uploaded specification is kept in private storage, opens only from your own account, and the specification and its analysis are used for your own report and nothing else.
